History:Gulf Racing Liveries

The Gulf racing colors first appeared on the 1964 Ford GT40. The cars all suffered mechanical failures and did not finish their first outing at Le Mans. It wasn't until 1968 that they managed a victory, with another one in 1969.

The colors then went onto the Porsche 917, Steve Mcqueen won Le Mans in this car in 1970.

This is a Ford Cosworth GR8, which won Le Mans in 1975.

The mighty Mclaren F1 GTR Long Tail wore the colors in 1995 and 1996.

A 2001 Audi R8 LMP1 shown with other Gulf greats.

Aston Martin DBR9 won the GT1 class at Le Mans in 2007 and 2008 wearing the Gulf colors.

To celebrate it's 50th anniversary of it's first victory at Le Mans, Aston Martin decided to build an LMP1 car to try to replicate it's first victory. They ended up finishing 4th behind the diesel beasts of Audi and Peugeot.
